So you want to be a painkiller?

We’ll need the physician’s signature – yes, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here aaand here.

What? It’s a prescription; did you think it’d be easy? You must have never been one before! Well, don’t you worry: I’ve had six so far, so I know how the pieces of this circus fall. Just follow me!

Now, I’ll take you for the weekdays, but on the weekends I’m Liquor’s. He’s a jealous son of a bitc—well, actually, we’re kind of just a steady thing right now. You don’t mind sharing, right? Great! Because he’ll be here to pick me up around eight - you know, when the cutting and shot glasses are torn from me like a fistful of hair? Oh, but don’t worry about cleaning that up: that’s Regret’s job! She kind of likes to use the evidence as things to mutter about damning herself for, so she’ll be upset if you touch anything!

Got all the rules?

…What do you mean it’s too much work?

Oh, well, yeah, I guess you can give halves to me. Yeah, I don’t mind. Well, kind of. My parents used to do that, too, but—Oh, but don’t think you’re disappointing me or anything: I mean, I’m just fine with this new contract! Aaand of course you weren’t worried about that! I wasn’t, either! I just wanted to make sure you  weren’t: you’re the newbie, after all!

Wait a second, Mr. Painkil—ah, thank you, I didn’t mean to drop that—I almost forgot, and this part is the good news: you get the whole month of December off! Sweet, right? And you were saying it was too much work!

Hmm? uh, why, I don’t do much in Decembers!

...Well, yes: it is your right to know. You’re invested in the company now, after all... I curl up with porcelain and try not to lose all of myself down with the flush, but you don’t have to worry about that: that’s Depression’s job! Well, no he-he doesn’t clean up. We hired a new employee for that! Gosh, what was that scrawny kid’s name?

Anxiety? Oh, no: he makes all of the messes. Actually, he helps Regret a lot by making "those messes,"—aaand I'm off topic, again! I'm sorry!! Names: we were on names.

I think it started with an H.. or maybe an I?

Hate? Illusion? No, those don’t - those don't sound right.

Inhumanity?

Hope! The skinny, freckled-face kid is Hope! So, you can thank him when you see him for taking the overtime!

So! When can you start?

Mr. Painkiller?

Mr. Painkiller? Where did you go?

Drats.

Judgement? Send in the next one, please!

Ah, Ms. … Suicide? So you want to be a painkiller? I see you have a most excellent resume! Lots of experience.. and a 100 percent success rate?! Well, I think that pretty much answers most all of the questions on this sheet.

So! When can you start?

Lately, I've been really into spoken poetry, which is why this probably sucks. Well, not just because it's written down (horribly, because one-sided dialogue is hard for me, I guess, to format), but because I've been straying into new styles, lately. Anxiety sometimes throws my sleep out the window, because it offends him, so I've had a lot of time. and I am not drinking alcohol again: swallowing it like water was kind of scary for a while. Ooh, just the thoughts, sometimes, and it seems an alternative.

If you want to give it a listen: soundcloud.com/nullibicity/pai…
(I don't normally post me speaking poetry, because I hate the way I read. But I tried, I guess?)

In case you were wondering: I'm doing more okay/goodish! I've just really been into writing recently, and it's actually kind of amazing. I saw a really touching slam poem on YouTube, and suddenly: wham! I'm writing them all the time. So I guess if you're into those, and you did go to listen, want to give my (Speak Up) prose a listen, too? I haven't decided what I think yet.

I also suck with categories. If it needs moved, please tell me. (I looked under scripts, but it was all marked up with those ENTER, EXIT, GIRL:, etc.)

Stay lovely, lovelies! :heart::heart:

I just love this piece. The perspective in which in the piece is written is quite entertaining and holds attention well.

Keep up the fantastic work, and as always, keep writing!
