Practice Makes PerfectI feel the blow to my very bones
And as painful as it is,
I do not cry out.
But more painful is the agony inside my chest,
The chaos,
And the constricting of my heart;
The way it skips a beat and I forget to breathe.

I guess I deserved it for my thoughtless words,
But why so hard?
Why with so much force?
And why to someone you supposedly love?
But love is pain
And without it you cannot grow closer.
So I take it all in silence,
My eyes downcast.
I look everywhere but her eyes.
I know there will be regret,
But it is nothing compared to the betrayal I feel.
She said she would never do it again.
Is this the proof of her prom

Over TimeExperiences
weighing heavily on calloused shoulders,
rough from the burdens they've held and discarded.

Feet stumbling,
tired and sore...
seeking rest.

and it's always a gift
when empathy steps in to share the weight.

The Wind Beneath My WingsA gust,
Ruffling the feathers of my charcoal wings
Hung low in my despair.
A tilt of the chin
Upwards,
To the dark midnight of hopes and dreams
I cannot reach,
Twinkling as if they still are beckoning me.
I was numbed.
I gave up on them long ago.

Another soft caress;
Like a push urging me gently forward.
It is not like the cold I am accustomed to,
But warm as it rushes past me.
Please wait…
I have not felt the wind in so long.

So much time spent nailed to the ground.
Do they even work anymore;
These blackened wings of mine,
Tainted with the darkness I used to dwell with
And ruined by my impurities?

SandcastlesMaking sandcastles in the sand;
Packing tightly the grains
That begin to take shape
Until the light starts to dim,
And the tide slowly trickles forward.

Not far away the footprints
Start to disappear;
One wave leaves the sand smooth and
Flawless.
The blemishes that proved your whereabouts
Obscured in a powerful thrust of sea foam.

Then begins the haste.

Sand is packed quicker,
Leaving sloppy, leaning towers.
It's only a matter of time
before the sea acquires its next victim;
Each massive wave
Pulling it closer and closer
To your location.
Your sand creation that stood
Tilted but tall
Dragged away before completion.

But

Run AwayRun away.
It only makes tomorrow
Harder to live.
It only makes you lost
Amongst familiar things.
All it does is make your heart heavy and your feet sore.

Run away.
Nothing will change
But the scenery;
From buildings to vibrant evergreens.
Everything else remains the same;
You're still yourself.
The self hatred is still present.
All you've made yourself
Is scared.

But go ahead;
Run away!
If it lifts the pain,
If it gives you a purpose,
Then go ahead and run far away.
From everything.
From everyone.
But all you'll make yourself is lonely.
All I've made myself is alone.
But I'll keep running
Away from everything

Starlight The stars stretch on endlessly
Into a universe that is unknown to me.
What lies beyond the veil that clouds our human sight?
I want to know.
I'm tired of being left in the dark.

The glowing circles of majesty
Never cease to capture my attention.
In the nights my heart screams out,
I take comfort in their presence.
No one else understands my agony
As well as the sky above.

Everything is pointless now,
Including my own existence.
The date of my fate is looming closer
Without anyone to stop its progress.
Though the emotion of fear is to be expected
I feel nothing.

In this night I look to the stars
I treasure this last sight,

Self LoveThis day of love makes me feel lonely.
Everyone expresses their care so boldly.
But for me, who love does not know;
I got through the day completely unknown.
Unbeknownst to them, I'm tired of crying,
Because to myself I have to keep lying
That everything is alright,
That nothing is wrong.
That even though she screams at me,
She still loves me.
But at these falsehoods the tears come faster;
Of my emotions she is my master.
What am I supposed to care about?
Her words have filled my head with doubt.
To avoid the pain I'll only love myself,
And cover up the growing welts.
Sometimes it may prove to be more than enough
But at lea

Dare to DreamSo bravely envisioning goals within your mind,
those same goals that slowly change to dreams,
reflected in your eyes not just the aspirations
of a creative mind,
but of a dreamer.

The smallest of smiles,
as if to seal the deal...

already so eager to reach your destination,
with butterfly wings strapped to your back
and arms outstretched to soar.

Slowly ForgettingHold my hand.
Please,
Never let go.
Let me feel the warmth of another,
Let it transfer into my frozen soul.
Thaw it,
But please don't break it.
It's fragile now
More than ever.
So despite these eyes
Boring holes into our backs,
Please just put your hand in mine;
I'll hold it tightly,
And try to put all of my love
Into that action.
If only you were able to feel
All these emotions I have for you.

But I'll keep them to myself.

It Just Takes TimeI'll make it through this,
But I will remain unsure of where to go;
Where to turn,
And where to run.
All this confusion will build,
And the loneliness will take its toll.
But I'll keep going
Until that distant speck of light
Becomes so bright and blinding
I'm forced to shield my eyes.
Yes, I'll keep walking.
Just keep walking until my legs
Can carry me no further.
If that should happen then I'll crawl.
Crawl through the mud and the dirt;
I'm that desperate to make it out alive.
And make it out I will.
It just takes time.

ImperfectionsA garden of roses,
As red as polished rubies.
But amongst their perfection is something different;
A black rose they shun due to the lack of understanding.
The gardener tries and tries to rid this garden's flaw,
To keep his garden a pleasure to the eyes.
But this black rose is an eyesore.
It's a reminder of imperfections.
And in this place everyone's the same,
Nothing is different,
Everything's plain.
Thus the gardener snips the bud
Of that beautiful, wilting rose,
As black as the darkness in our souls.

MonophobiaYour hand found my heart with ease,
just as your words always found cracks in weakened armor,
and with the same fluidity that constantly drew my gaze,
filling me with childish need atop the comfort of company,
even if lonely:
we were never ones to stand individually.

Then you play my heart strings,
with the skill of devoted pianists and the poise
of Egyptian princes,
garbed in such confidence I have no choice but to move my lips
to words hummed beneath your steady breath;
the words my heart stammers over,
as weak a fool as ever.

Necessities mash like fevered lips,
merging us as one being,
one entity of which to rejoice with

Sadness and SorrowThe window of my prison;
Nothing is visible.
Too many rivers of rain
Run down its cold surface.
I can hear the loud rumbling of the sky above
And my eyes register the blinding light.
So much sadness and sorrow
Outside this darkened room;
I am protected from it,
But that does not mean I remain unaffected.
I feel every tear this sky sheds,
And every scream the clouds give.

It's deafening;
Blinding,
But I keep on staring.
Nothing can break my trance.
I'm enchanted by the pain that
Rains down.

I am captivated by the wounds this storm is making.
When I come back to myself
I find it so hard to believe
That my heart is feeling

RobotA robot is what she wants me to be.
A mindless puppet is what she wishes of me.
She only wants me when it's convenient for her,
And the times I'm wanted are a blissful blur.
They're distant memories I can never relieve,
Replaying in my head before they dim.

I'm too stuck in the joy of my past
That the joy in the present can never last.
One day of happiness,
Two at most.
I'm tired of pretending I'm not numb anymore.
So if they, too, wish it from me,
A mindless being is what I'll be.

Do you know what it's like
To love someone to the point of agony?
To the point it's excruciating to know
You can never be one soul?
Do you know how it feels
To have your heartbeat sync to theirs,
And to wish, that in that moment, they could merge?

But we shall stay separated;
We can only be ourselves.
But I cannot forgive this part of me
That remains yearning for your soul.

I enjoy reading every one of your comments as much as I love replying! You just make me smile. I can tell you've something quite special... and I only wish I knew how to express it. Let me just say that I feel there are people that bring many needed qualities to this world... you, to me, seem to possess some.
Though it will sound random in its placement (I do a lot of pondering whenever I can): thank you for restoring some of my faith in humanity. When the world often is a cold place, it is hard to remember there are still things of genuine truth.

I do a lot of pondering too - I'm amazed and very happy that my comments could have done so much for you.

And that is a very true statement, I must remember it.

No matter how bad stuff gets, or how black things seem now - pain ends, and happiness is the other side. It's not about forcing happiness, it's about not letting sadness win. Never give up.

When I read this my heart literally felt like it sank a little deeper. This is exactly how I feel right now. But I hope that our hearts can be one someday. This is seriously the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life. This is the most difficult test and Im surprised I have made it this far. This is by far the best poem by you I have ever read, just because of the way it made me fell.
